If you live in Finland, then you’re going to have to deal with the snow from November through to May. So, if you’re, Ellis Parssinen, you could do with a new fur jacket, not a purple one.

Luckily, for Parssinen, its June, and that allows him to slip those arms into the sleeves of his new purple jacket courtesy of his stunning performance at the Poker Masters Online Pot Limit Omaha Series on partypoker.

In the end, the battle for the title and purple jacket went right to the wire. Andras Nemeth and Jens Kyllonen both finished strongly with Nemeth picking up two wins, and Kyllonen picking up his third. Nemeth led until the penultimate event when Parssinen finished runner-up to Chance Kornuth to beat Nemeth by a single point.

The series hasn’t ended.

The two-day Main Event ends today, with Isaac Haxton leading, but nobody at the final table can surpass Parssinen at the top.

It seems as if Finland has coronavirus by the scruff of its neck with the latest reports showing a rate of eight new infections per 100,000 people over the past fortnight.

The reduction of cases has led to the country’s officials relaxing restraints, including allowing citizens of 12 different countries (who have gotten their shit together) to enter the country, and allowing their natives to go yonder.

Two people will not be shifting from their seats.

The inaugural Poker Masters Online Pot-Limit Omaha Series continued to paint beautiful storylines over partypoker’s canvass, and Jens Kyllonen and Eelis Parssinen have been the primary artists.

Kyllonen won two $10,000 events for a combined haul of $412,000, but he still trails Parssinen on the overall leaderboard by 68-points. Parssinen made the final table of four of the six events featured below, most notably winning the 44-entrant $25k event for $440,000, and finishing second to Kyllonen in one of those $10k events.

Aku Joentausta is another Finnish star who had a fabulous week in the Poker Masters making three final tables. Jonathan Depa also made three final tables.

With church pews empty due to the spread of Coronavirus (COVID-19) for some, the poker table became the place to say their prayers, three of whom received answers.

The Poker Masters Online Series had a bumper Sunday on partypoker with three events falling like dominos, and the first to tumble in this omnibus is Event #16: $25,500 No-Limit Hold’em (NLHE).

Heading into the weekend, the names ‘Jason Koon’ hadn’t graced the headlines during the Poker Masters Online Series, but he burst into song taking down the most substantial single payout of the series so far.

The charm and challenge of a $25,000 event attracted 72-entrants like hatboxes on Derby Day, and it was the partypoker ambassador who lasted longer than anyone to bank the $549,000 first prize.

Koon defeated Justin Bonomo, heads-up, and although the former All-Time Money List leader will be disappointed to finish as the bridesmaid for the second time during the series, he has now earned more de Niro’s than anyone in the tournament ($606,974), so he won’t be threading a needle through his eyeball just yet.

Other notables names in the money (ITM) included the first score for Dan Smith and a sixth score for Juan Pardo Dominguez.

Here are the results.

Results

  1. Jason Koon – $549,000
  2. Justin Bonomo – $369,000

  5. Juan Pardo Dominguez – $126,000
  6. Dario Sammartino – $99,000
  7. Joni Jouhkimainen – $85,500
  8. Dan Smith – $81,000
  9. Ole Schemion – $76,500

The Russian moves into third place overall after finishing in the Top 3 spots three times in four ITM finishes. A hat tip to Chris Hunichen who recorded his sixth ITM finish, although he’s yet to find the luck needed to place higher than he has been.
